IPNC:マーシュナー若手奨学金に思う

　國際植物栄養科学会(International Plant Nutrition Colloquium)が8月22日から27日まで、ブラジルのイグアスの滝で開かれる。その際優秀な若手研究者に対して主催者から渡航費の支給がなされる。その奨励資金をマーシュナー若手奨励賞と称しているようだ。
　　
　これを知って小生（森敏）はいささか感慨を覚えた。今回の大会運営委員長のサンパウロ大学のProfessor Ciro A. Rosolemはきっと昔マーシュナーの研究室に留学していたんだろう。
　　
　マーシュナー教授の推薦で小生は日独交流資金でマーシュナー研に短期留学して、マーシュナーにとても可愛いがってもらった。マーシュナー研には諸外国から若手留学生が多数おり、彼らは例外なく母国に帰って素晴らしい研究者として成長していった。




Marschner Young Scientist Award: Nurturing the Future

In honour of Professor Horst Marschner, who was a passionate supporter of students and young researchers, the IPNC has established the Marschner Young Scientist Award for outstanding early-career researchers and PhD students with a potential to become future research leaders.

The awardees will get a chance to present their work orally (15 minutes, including discussion).

Up to three PhD students and up to three early-stage postdocs (with PhD degree conferred in 2012 or later) will be chosen based on the following documents.

Submission deadline 15th March 2022 to Ciro A. Rosolem at: ciro.rosolem@unesp.br.

1) Abstract prepared according to the Colloquium guidelines and submitted via the official IPNC registration web page (Call for abstract).

2) Extended abstract following the template (click here)

3) CV not exceeding 2 pages (single-spaced, font 12) + list of only peer-reviewed publications.

4) A statement (not to exceed 1 page formatted as above) from a supervisor explaining why the student/early-stage postdoc is exceptional.

Applying for this prestigious award should be considered by only the top-notch students and early-career researchers. A scientific committee will select the awardees based on (i) the person’s academic merit, and (ii) the excellence of the research conducted.

The awardees will receive financial support to attend the Colloquium.
